Hello, as you may know, my metal detector is fried and needs to be repaired(false signals). Well, before sending it in, i hit the sweet spot in my yard and found some 40 year old trash, a penny, and a whatzit. The watzit seems to be a tag that says: POSTAGE GARENTIED; FINDER DEPOSIT ANY MAILBOX; DISABLED(i think) AMERICAN VETERANS; CINCINATI, (i think) OHIO 45214

I would appreciate any info and possibly value on the tag, which is about an inch long. This will be one of my last starter post for a while on this forum ( unless i pry up the bottle stuck in the yard)

Nice finds......The tag could be for house or car keys. Alot of people carried them on their key rings..... if they lost them.....they could be placed in mail and returned to them.

I agree with Gypsy. I think she is right on with the key tag.
Good news is the Post Office as well as automobiles have been around
for over 100 years.. sooooo could be old ;)
Either way... Nice find!

I remember those tags from my childhood. The disabled vets use to send them in hopes of getting a donation in return. I don't know when they began but do know that it was before zip codes. If I recall they resembled a license plate with your tag number on it. That would be in the 1950's. I haven't seen one in years. I thought they were pretty neat when I was a kid. If I remember correctly they came in pairs and were adhered somehow to a card inside an envelope. Neat find. Two Dogs

Gold,

look like this?

Found it back in Jan of this year.
Photo is of the back; front was the actual
plate number on your auto; the one I found
it was broken out.

Everyone had it right; used as a fund raiser for Vets.

Remember them back in the 50 -60's

have a good un.............
