Nice totals! I just went through my first box of halves last night.I hope they're all as good as my first.I love free money! ;D Take care and good luck.

:D Bomber: Silver is going for $12.73 an oz. @ this moment. Since you have found 46 90%, & 140 40%, Your Net Profit is $381.80
Not too shabby! That doesn't include the Face Value of the Coins! You would add $93 to that!

Sorry Bomber!

Eric: Each 90% Half has .36169 of an oz. of Silver! Multiply that by $12.73 (Today's Silver Price) & you get $4.60 ea.
Each 40% Half has .1479 of an oz. of Silver! Multiply that by $12.73 & you get $1.88 ea.
Then you have to subtract .50 ea. that you paid for them! The result is Net Profit!

where do you take it to get that profit to a scrap yard?

Sell them to a coin shop. A good one will usually pay 5 to 10 percent less than spot (silver price at current time).

Sell them to a refiner to be melted down. I have heard that the below link is a good refiner but have never used them myself. I take mine to a coin shop.

Hey Bomber, that 70-D is one of the hardest JFKs to find. If its in any shape, it would be worth MORE that silver value.

Great haul for this month. Great haul for any month. Midwest doesn't accept the 40% silver. I would say that you would probably make out better, that is if you were going to sell them, by selling them on ebay.

Perhaps you might do a little bit better melting because you have to pay the fees for ebay. But sure do hate to see more coins melted. But yes I sent silver and gold jewelry to Midwest. They did a very good job and were honest with me.
