Today I was surface hunting {1 inch or less } Second gold ring this summer doing that. Men's 18kt gold ring weighing 11 grams
I was hunting in the grass near the beach area

Good eye. Congrats

Today I found out that this ring isn't real it's plated. The markings clearly say 18k/750. The xterra 705's gold range is 4-18. When it read 28 I should have known better. Guess I will have to save my happy dance for another day

It gets the heart pumping anyway. Better luck next time.

Wait a minute! 18K is 750 or 75% gold and who said the 705's gold range is only 4 to 18. At 11 grams a 28, I'm surprised it doesn't read even higher!
I have 14K rings that are smaller and read into the 20's,

Highly doubt that ring is plated
18k - 750
that ring doesn't look plated
u cannot go by what the detector reads it at
I have a heavy 18k ring I found that reads high too
I'm sure the pro's here will tell u the same thing
acid test it

Really starting to hate all this plating..........sorry man ive found my share lately.

Just got back from the jewelers

Thanks guys for encouraging me to have it checked. She even steam cleaned it. Back to doing my Happy Dance. I watched a video on you tube is where I got the gold range on the x-terraIMG_0409 (1).webp
