Detecting on Nov 15!? Unbelievable, and I'm not complaining!

A friend of mine in his 70's who lives on the US side of our town got me permission to hunt a beautiful old house, the nicest old house in town. He knows the owner who lives far away. She was here for a few weeks to do some maintenance on the old place and said I could detect. It's a shame it's been sitting empty for 30 years, but nice to see it maintained. Built around 1900 by the local banker whose name was W. M_ _ _ _ _ _.

I know it was detected to death back in the 1980's. Signals were sparse and the junk is almost too much haha, but I managed a couple of wheats, a lead toy horse head, and what I think is a 1911 St. Louis dog tag. And then I found this plated cufflink with the initials W. M.

Although I didn't find much, I was really happy to find something that is directly tied to the man who built the house and was a big part of the town. The woman who owns the house is no relation to the man who built it. I think I'm going to try to find the family and see if they are interested. . Awesome cufflink, good luck on finding a return.

Cuff link is definitely find of the day. Awesome that you can connect it to the original owner. Hope you can find the family and they are as receptive and grateful as they should be!

That is so much better then a coin. Congrats Mike.
To tie it back to the banker is Awesome! !

Looks like you still pulled some cool finds form that permission.

Thanks fellas, I agree things like this are better than a coin. Even if I found a seated (which I'd be so happy I'd puke), it would go in my binder and that would be that. However, I've been scouring the internet looking for a living relative of the man who owned the cufflink. So much fun, I love it haha! It's tough going, I might have to message mackaydon for some help...

What makes this so much fun is when you can tie all the history together no matter the item or the site. Nice find J.Cache!

That is an awesome cuff link. Glad to see you're still getting out in the Great White North. We had our first freeze Sunday here in NJ - when I went outside I thought I heard a sad violin song in the cold wind... Lol

Keep it up!

HEY CACHE THE HORSE HEAD FIND IS NEEET AND THE CUFF LINK ALSO . LOOKS LIKE A GOOD SITE TO DIG ....

The dog tag is sweet, the cuff link is just killer! Well done JC, best of luck to you.

Nice cufflink Cache, hope you have some luck on tracking down a relative.

The horse head reminds me of the Godfather. :)
