Hello T-netters. I enjoy looking at all of your finds rather than posting my own, but I thought this one was worth the post. My friend & I were out in the fields last Sunday & made a few finds. He got a 1918 Wheat & a 1908 Indian. I ended up with a crotal bell & this sweet looking medallion. On the obverse it says " Percheron Society of America Chicago " On the reverse it says " West Michigan State Fair Grand Rapids Michigan. Venus 35717 ( this is engraved ) In the center it says " American Bred Mare Any Age" (in raised lettering)
"A.M. Storm & Son, IL. 1908" (this is engraved). It measures 2 1/4 inches top to bottom & 2 1/4 inches side to side. Seems to be made of Brass. It must be a medallion for the winner or someone who placed with their Percheron horse in the 1908 Michigan State Fair. It pays to dig the aluminum can signals, because that's what I thought this was going to be. Just about rang my ears off, but it was worth going deaf for !! Happy Easter to all.
