Only "The Forest" knows. . .
The last two days that I've hunted The Forest have been somewhat unusual.
This place dates dates back to the late 19th century and has seen much "revelry"
during the past 100 years. Even though it may not measure up to the "Colonial Coppa"
territory out east, it's been a pretty decent place to hunt by "burb" standards. . . and it's fairly close.
When I went out there yesterday, I planned on hunting the forested areas as it was the
only time of the year that the underbrush would be rather forgiving. During the past
several hunts, The Forest has given me a Barber, two V-Nickels plus, a few Wheat's
that were dated in the teens. Even though these finds were few and far between,
they were still keepers and I was hopeful that I might find a few more.
What I like about The Forest, there's always a lot of interesting things to be found ABOVE
ground, with the eyes. . .
As I was walking along a creek that ran through the woods, I found a few glass bottles,
a pocket knife, a set of keys plus, a few "what's its" that were either dumped or had
been washed down from some of the steeper slopes.
OK, now here's where it gets interesting. . .
YESTERDAY. . .
while hunting The Forest, I lucked out and dug a 1912-D V-Nickel and a 1916-D Wheat Cent
Well, after these two finds, I wouldn't have cared if I didn't find another coin all week
TODAY. . .
I go back to The Forest hoping to find more old coins (OK, I lied about the not caring part
).
My first find of the day was another 1916-D Wheat Cent! What are the odds of this?
OK, so now I'm thinking, wouldn't it be cool to find another V-Nickel?
Well, wonders never cease. . . and it's the SAME DATE!
I guess only The Forest Knows. . .
