Yep,By a misunderstanding,a friend had told me he had contacted the preacher
about m.d. property that a church was to be built on.Once an old homestead.
It was a 'he said' he didn't care who wanted to m.d. on it.It was going to be bulldozed off anyways.
He and another detectorist had m.d.'ed the site for a couple of days and found some old coins and a few
relics.
So I visited the site and less than an hour in?Here comes this guy.He wants to know what I was doing
on his property.I shake his hand and tell him my name.As calmly as possible I explained the story above.
He very angrily says this is his land and what's in the ground is his.He gave no one permission to m.d. his property.
I calmly said it was a misunderstanding and assured him there was no damage done or artifacts dug up.
As there wasn't anything found of value.By me.I reached in my bag and offered him a couple of smashed
beer cans.He actually laughed and the ice was broken. No harm done.Next day though he has no trespassing
signs up .
Moral here is never take the word of a friend.Get permission yourself.
