Hard to get that green tint in the center of the upper petal. Paphiopedium (Lady Slipper orchid) right? Did you grow it yourself? They are supposed to be relatively easy to cultivate.
 

Beautiful!!

I read an artical written by a National Geographic photographer, and he said that he uses a piece of black velvet for a background for shooting flowers.
 

Yes, it is a Lady's Slipper. My wife bought it at Lowe's. I used different color construction paper for the background. The black showed the flower best. This was taken using a flash at night and I was holding the camera. I may try it in natural daylight this weekend.

Orchids are amazing plants !!! For this background I used a Walmart storage container lid... hey, it works. :dontknow:

Thanks Fyrffytr1 ! This photo won best of show at Olympic College last year. My wife happened to have these orchids in our window next to the kitchen sink so I took a shot...
