I wanted to let you know that I got an e-mail back from the question I asked to Brenda March of the City Of Orlando asking her for a list of parks that permit metal detecting in the central Florida area and she replied by saying "You can use your metal detector at any of our City parks. The City does not allow digging in our parks"

So, I'm going to ask a dumb question, because I'm still learning about the rules and laws. With Brenda's answer are you allowed to use a screw driver or what tool if you can do you use? Just curious. Seems to me she didn't give me a complete answer.

I received the same reply down here in Broward county a few years ago regarding county parks. Since then I haven't had a problem when detecting in "county" parks. I usually stick to the playground and volleyball areas though. Every now and then, i'll hunt a sports field and i'll use a screwdriver and try to pop out a coin or two or i'll cut a small plug if no one is around (park employees). Just be sure to fill your holes. City parks are okay down here, I got a favorable reply regarding them. Here is the link pertaining to Orlando municipal codes-http://www.municode.com/RESOURCES/gateway.asp?pid=13349&sid=9. Scroll down to Chapter 18a on the left side for parks.

I ordered and use the EZ-Dig-R II and found it works really good for retrieving coins and such with very minimal disturbance to the ground. Better then a screwdriver, and you can barely tell I was there when I leave. When in 24 hours you can't tell at all.

Here is the link to it, I am only posting so you can see what it is, I am not associated with the seller at all except as being a satisified customer. ;D

Here is a response from Osceola County That I have recieved..

We do not have any policies that prevent metal detectors in parks;
however, the problem typically arises when people dig and do not fill in
holes thereby creating tripping hazards.

Sounds pretty good to me. Except for the part about people not filling their holes. Sounds like you can detect all you want, just be sure to fill your holes, which should be second nature anyway. I don't see how someone can go on someone elses property and dig holes then not fill them. What the heck are they thinking? Are they just plain stupid or what?

I start my vacation next week Friday for my birthday which is Oct. 2, so I will be researching the parks in Osceola county as to where the parks are. I plan on doing some metal detecting on my vacation. I'm working 7 days this week unless I can find some extra hours during the week. When I go metal detecting I will fill the holes I dig.
