here are a few photos from our Ireland trip in Oct 2008.

The first four are from Giants Causeway
I believe the castle is Dunluce castle in northern Ireland
Dan Murphys bar is in Sneem along the west coast, the beach pic was taken along the coast as well
The last photo is at the Ulster American folk park in Ulster.

Didn't get any photos of the Cliffs of Moher, front came through that day with 50mph winds and driving rain, although it did make for some insane waterfalls barrelling off the cliffs.

Enjoy :)

And to think you only touched the tip of Ireland's beauty. I may be partial to the land...but dang its some beautiful land. Its pretty awesome to go form the mountains to the sea in an hour in many places.

Looks like you enjoyed the visit.

Ireland is a beautiful country. When I see the pics of those castles on those high cliffs, I always wonder how in the world they got all the material way up there to build with. And the lay of the land must have made it awful hard to stand or footing for any kind of equipment to lift the rock for the walls. The builders had to have been some tough and
hearty men. I sure wouldn't to get into an argument with any of them.

Went there in '94. Most of the time spent in Dublin, but took a day trip to Strokestown, where my family was from. Beautiful country. And Irish Whiskey is Good; especially the single malts.

Yep we went to the Jameson Distillery in Dublin and volunteered to be taste testers. Very good whiskey.

although our bus driver was pushing Bushmills Irish whiskey on us which was also very good.

Yes it was a package tour. I believe the company was CIE. All accomodations, transportation and meals (breakfast and supper) were all included. Our coach driver was quite a funny likeable fellow. Being a first time visitor to Ireland it was a great way to see many different areas and I had a blast.

That said I believe next time I get over there (if it ever happens) I think I would rent a vehicle. There were many times that I would have liked to explore, or hike a trail, but we were on a schedule and only had X amount of time at each area before we had to be back on the coach.

Next years trip with the same coordination is actually combining both. After landing they take you to Donegal (I think) where they will set you free to do as you please, pick you up 4 days later and travel to Killarney and repeat.

anyhow if you have a chance go for it. Its well worth the cost.

oh and if you do go, get to the Ulster American folk park in Ulster. They have a research library with records kept from the potato famine years and the massive emmigration. My wife was trying to find some realitives and found some great leads there. I am not Irish but when I put in my last name one result came up. It turns out that perhaps my one lone realtive in Ireland was a Slave :icon_king: (ha ha indentured servant I hope  )
