010.webp002.webp007.webp Out on an old farm field today metal detecting and found the following. Some old hinges and farm implements. An old horse ring. A 1946 Lincoln Wheat Cent. A Remington New Rival 12 gauge shotgun shell head circa 1897-1929. A Winchester 30-30 WIN rifle shell. A Remington Arms (RA) 64 rifle shell. What appears to be an old somewhat flattened musket ball. I ran across two old Coca Cola bottles which as a boy I would get a nickel for the larger one and two cents for the smaller when returning the empties. Also had the company of one of the nesting Bald Eagles from nearby.

You may not have found any great coins, but whenever I see a bald eagle it still takes my breath away. Nice pics. Farm fields can provide some great finds, but there are day when not much comes up. Got to keep swing the loop.

NICE PICTURES! THANKS FOR SHARING

Great hunt, congrats. I am finding when I hunt the area of the field near the fenceline/treeline, more targets pop up! Best of luck and the eagle escort was a bonus. Sub 8-)

Bald Eagles are a beautiful site. We are starting to see more of them in my area.

This pair has been nesting here for about 5 years. I actually have a deer stand right near their nest.

Glad you had a good time out of doors. Your story of collecting for bottle deposits worked out well for me as a kid. We'd scour the stream for throwaways and then take our finds to the local garage for a nickel or a dime a piece. We usually used our take to buy candy.
