31c here today but I wasn't sitting at home. I put the 6"dd on the Terra to fit in amongst the thick junk where I went. Its the edge area of a gold lead where a lot of junk was left.

Got these two broach frames, the leaf one still had the wooden centre but it felt apart as I cleaned the dirt off of it.

What was left of an old fob watch.

Some old lid.

This I was real happy to find. A 1 oz gold weight, naturally used for weighing gold. Its spot on 1 oz too.
Typically they have a makers mark but this just has the number 1 on one side and Oz on the other.
The makers mark was never a guarantee they were correct as I found a couple with a crown and official stamp mark yrs ago that were well under weight.

I can't imagine 31c these days... it's -15c outside right now, but with the wind it's -21c. :laughing7:
Very nice 1 oz gold weight, I think the 'old lid' is to a 1920s - 30s Ponds Cold Cream jar.
Love this little brooch frame.

Thanks for sharing your hunt with us Chille,
Dave

Ah, I think you're right. The area is overlain with old and newer.
Im imagining the diggers now after a hard day laying back on their swag with their faces covered in cream relaxing.😀

Hi,,
We just got five inches of snow,,and could use some nice heat here also
Congratulations on your nice gold weight and I’m confident that big gold is close by
Take care
Bill

I could use some heat (tired of being cold so much). Gold weight... a just or unjust weight is the historical label for accurate or not weights.

Your lid looks like it might be from an old snuff or chewing tobacco can.

That brings back memories from my childhood. My dad rolled his own cigarettes. I loved watching cowboy movies. Put the two together and you had an 8 year old filling his mouth with cigarette tobacco and chewing.
I just about threw up. 😆

the heat, send it here, hasn't been above freezing in days , good finds
