Dug this copper two weeks ago . . . it's the first one that I've dug thats oval shaped.

Being out of round is a characteristic of a contemporary cast counterfeit. A good find in my books!

Look closely and see if there are any file marks around the outer edge. Also see if it looks porous as if cast in a sand mold. And third, did it register in the bullet shell casing range?
