owasso husband wife team, planning trip to wichita mountains

we are planning to go after belle starrs iron door cache sometime in fall, i was wondering if anyone here has made the trek and tried?
we have found some pretty awesome accounts of 4 people from 1910 to 1933 finding it but not finding their way back, along with other info.
i would love to talk to someone in ok about this

did you make the trip? if so, how did it go?

i look for it every time i drive by. haven't actually gotten out and trekked for it. not sure which mountain to tackle. i am thinking that so much time has passed that the mountains have swallowed up that iron door by now.
