Those are great! Perfect shape. Tony

Here are a few I have acquired.

I'll have to get a picture of a transitional Oxbow that I have.

Those are all killers, but someone's gonna have to explain the Oxbow term to me.

Awesome points and I'm new to the Oxbow term too and would like to hear more about it.
I know what an oxbow in a river is , but how does that relate to points? Tony

Oxbow is the type. They are Mid-archaic, and found in the norther plains of the USA and in Canada.

Saskhunter is showing some great examples of Oxbows, note the auriculate bases?

I just put up some high plains arrowheads/points.

Saskhunter, nice to see another Canadian on this site! these points were found this year in southwest Manitoba. Most of them are middle pre contact(archaic)-possible mummy cave/early side notched, pelican lake, duncan, mckean, hanna, oxbow as well as some late plains side notched.

Those are nice. We don't have them in south Georgia.

A few High Plains points.

Those all look great. What age as in B.P. are they? Im sure your time frames are different than mine are here in Georgia.

Here is a frame of High Plains Points I put together. Little bit of everything here. Center one is an Agate Basin my oldest point so far.

Wow those are all amazing!! And it's really cool to see stuff from that particular region-- so thanks guys! I looked around to get a better understanding of this point technology, cause I'm not familiar with it either- and I came up w/ this- a pretty good PDF to get the general feel of the northern plains complexes and point styles- for those who wish to read a bit:

I need to look at those points again! They're so beautiful! Yakker

The first three pictures is my tray from Colorado that has an Oxbow in the top center. This one was a gift From Tom Westfall.

The last picture is South Dakota pieces and I'm pretty sure that is an Oxbow on the right of the three Points at the top.

That is what I thought it was when I had it in hand.
