PA prospector Heading to Durham NC

Hey all... I am a weekend prospector living in Western PA. I am heading down to Durham NC this weekend for a family function, and was hoping to be able to sample some creeks in the area. I'll probably only have a few hours, so I'd like to keep my traveling time minimal. I've done research in the area, and can't find any info on gold finds in Durham County... Almost all of the surrounding counties, but not Durham. If you locals could give me some accessible spots, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
