Hello Forum,

I found a vintage padlock. Can anyone help me identify the brand or age? There is a diamond shaped mark at the top of the arched locking mechanism. Thanks for looking!

I think it says REO inside the diamond.

I wish I had the key. I want to take it to a locksmith.

That’s a real cool find.

Very cool, definitely a good display piece

Very nice old padlock. Nick79 is right, that will make a nice display piece. It will be hard to ID if you cant get any clear markings off of it.

Hello Forum,

I found out that REO is actually Russell Erwin Company (the C goes around and almost looks like an O). The lock is circa 1890 - 1920. Thanks to the lock museum of america for their assistance.

Now I am trying to find a key for it!

Great looking lock!

Hello Forum,

After several months of searching for a blank key, I finally found one that I could work with. After several hours of drilling, and filing the lock works again! IMG_1571.webp

Excellent job! Almost harder finding the blank than impressioning the key?

That's a great relic. Old padlocks are always nice to find.
