could also be a little egg pan, ive seen ones small enough that an egg wouldnt have enough space to spread completely out in before

I GREW UP SEEING THESE SMALL "PANS" AND THEY WERE ASH TRAYS; HOWEVER THEY HAD CIGARETTE HOLDERS ON THE EDGES WHERE THIS ONE IS FASIONED WITH DRIP EDGES, JUST AS THE FULL SIZE SKILLETS. I WONDER IF THIS ONE MIGHT BE A SALESMAN SAMPLE, LIKE THE ONES FROM EARLY 1900S. SALESMEN IN THAT TIME PERIOD CARRIED A VARIETY OF MINIATURES TO SHOW ON DOOR TO DOOR AND COUNTY FAIRS ETC... AS IT WAS DIFICULT TO TRANSPORT A FULL SIZED STOCK.

I REMEMBER MY GRANDMOTHER HAD A MINIATURE OF A WOOD FIRED COOK STOVE AND A MINIATURE CAST IRON KETTLE. SHE TOLD ME HOW THEY CAME TO BE IN HER POSSESSION.

I MAY BE WRONG, BUT I HOPE SOMEONE ELSE CAN SHED A LITTLE MORE LIGHT ON IT.

My Grandmother had one and it was definitely an ash tray-or at least that's what it was used for.
Might still have it somewhere-I'll have to look.

Beleive it or not, the local Ralph's Market is selling them to cook single eggs...

Cost $3.00 + tax

To sum it up: We have a little kid(who grew up to be a salesman) from the 1950's, playing house/kitchen, cooking a single egg, and smoking! Works for me. :laughing7:

Wooo-weee sneaking those unfiltered Chesterfields back then almost blew off my head! :laughing7: Breezie

I'm going with the salesman's miniature frying pan(sounds cooler) because my dad was a smoker and he used a ton of things as ash trays(including his hands) now I need to buy one of those miniature stoves :sign13:
