Panning Equipment Suggestions

My Wife and I will be hiking/camping and exploring Cherokee N.F. We want to give panning a try. Long hikes/ backpacking will be involved so weight is a big issue. Besides the pans, permit and a small garden shovel to pan small creeks and streams what other equipment would you recommend. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions, rounded up everything, sucker bottle showed up yesterday, we’re ready to roll!

Something to screen with. I find those colanders in the kitchen supply aisle at the grocery store are cheap and work great. Also if there's alot of black sand in the area theres a $6 pen style magnet on amazon.
