Does anyone know any old parks near Wellington Florida or the surrounding areas?

I live in the acreage, next door to Wellington. I have spent the last hour on the phone with numerous Palm Beach County Park officials asking whether metal detecting is allowed in the park system here, and no one seems to know. Do you know? By the way, if you are interested in having some one tag along with you metal detecting let me know.
