Found at site I have been hitting. You can make out the design. Looks and feels silver to me. It has to be right? Would love to know the age and story behind this. As we all wish we do with our finds lol.

Have about 40 hours this site I feel. Lol tons of land though I can easily spend 40 more

Make a paste out of baking soda and water. Rub it on that handle. If it is silver, it should clean up nicely.
