I found this part at an old civil war era site. This site was known to house confederate and union soldiers. It looks like a part to gun to me but it could easily be something else. It is made of a non-metallic material, bronze or brass. Inside looks like part of a gun cock mechanism and it rotates back and forth. Any help would be appreciated.
