I hunted the field behind my childhood home that was a farm field then but is now a town owned dog park. Pretty quiet field but one of those fun sites with very little trash and most targets are going to be old. Found some musketballs, toasted IHP, and a toasted colonial copper on Tuesday night. Tonight I got a bale seal, more musketballs, colonial flat button, some kind of old key and a 1859 IHP.

Got the surprise 1940 D merc on Sunday night at a super trashy public boat landing that was once a steamboat landing.

If you live in an old area you never know what might turn up just wandering around old farm fields. Your key is a barrel spigot key made to fit through a spigot cap like one of these.

Barrel tap key! The tap that went in the wooden keg of ale, was opened using that key. Sweet find, congrats..

Thanks for the id guys. I dont recall seeing these posted before so I was not sure. So this probably dates to the colonial period or just after? Pretty cool to have it considering I have yet to find a complete skeleton key.
