Woohoo! Went back to the same spot I have been gridding for 3rd time today. Having some hope finding some old stuff, but no old coins. I decided to put the NEL Sharpshooter from my Omega on the Patriot. Air tests in my living room got me about 7.5" on most coins with sens at 75, not an accurate test, but it worked at least. I set sens at 85, disc 1, 4 tones, thresh 2, speed DE for todays hunt. I put 4 flags out in my 30x30 ft spot and within 10 minutes I got a solid high tone and 85 VDI. About 5" deep, bam! Thought it was a nickel until I wiped it off. Standing Liberty Quarter, cannot see a date. I have never found ANY silver coin other than a Canadian 1964 franc. I was stoked! Thanks for the great tips from you all here, especially Digger27. I also confirmed that the NEL Omega coil works just fine on the Patriot! I will leave it on for awhile. I plan to go back tomorrow for a couple hours, hopefully more silver is there waiting to be unearthed!

Congrats on the SLQ !!! Sounds like you are in a good spot.

Congrats on the SLQ, :occasion14: It took me two years before I dug my 1st one. My coil of choice for many sites is the nel sharpshooter.

Awesome dig! Where there's one silver there's usually more....

Good luck to you bro, I'm confident if it's there that Patriot will find it! Got a dime signal today, dug about 13" found a small rusty screw, with sens at 85 and the smaller NEL Sharpshooter. Granted it wasn't a dime, but that depth was still so impressive.

Where does your ground balance typically come in at on your patriot where you hunt?

In this particular spot, low 70's. Another spot I hit today 2 miles from that spot was 63-65. Some of the newer parks (1990 plus) can be low 50's.

Very nice find. I've only found a couple of standing liberty quarters.....seems like they don't wear as well as other coins especially around the date. My 1877 seated dime was in better condition than either of my quarters.
