This will be interesting...understand a few states have adopted somthing similar.

In Michigan, gasoline is taxed at 53.4 cents per gallon. Diesel tax is 52.4 cents per gallon.

The last full-size passenger cars from major American manufacturers to use a traditional mechanical speedometer cable and analog odometer were produced through the 2005 model year (such as the Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis), while some trucks and specific models phased them out slightly earlier or later around the early-to-mid 1990s (like the 1991–1993 transition years for various GM and Ford truck/SUV lines).

So my advice is to drive a vehicle that a person could actually repair on their own, unhook the cable, drive cheaper, not get tracked as they what you to be tracked.

If they put GPS trackers in every car (there are 8 million vehicles in MI), think of the cost for that situation.

I’m sure if there’s a way to do it, they’ll do it. Probably just get somebody to mandate it at the federal level. For your own safety, of course.

Years ago, a friend rented a vacation home for one month in North Dakota, bought a car there and registered it. He had his mail (DMV notifications) forwarded to his Calif. address. Each year he would pay only the ND fees, not the Calif. fees. No one checked to see if he was still in ND.
Could the same idea be applied to the Michigan situation?

Take away the gas and diesel taxes and any out of state vehicle will pay nothing to the road fund when buying fuel

I had a friend that got tired of paying state income taxes in MN years ago, so he sold his home and lived in a motor home and
parked it inND for six months and one day and then came back to MN for the rest of the yeare. Didn't pay any taxes.
