I wish finding rings were always this easy.

The beaches are still pretty sanded in, plus we had an inch of rain overnight.

Still, with temps in the low '60s and sunshine, seemed like a good day to learn more about the Whites BeachHunter 300 I got last week.

So far, its been a real winner, finding jewelry each time I've taken it out.

Today, went to Sharkey's on Venice Island, parked the car, got out on the sand, turned the detector on, and took about 20 steps.

Got a strong tone, dug it, and in the first scoop of sand, I find the ring shown below.

Looks like a 'craftsman' handmade ring. Certainly not from a machine.

Probably not worth much, but it is always nice to find a ring.

And finding a ring in the first few minutes of being on the beach is definitely a nice way to start a hunt.

Stayed on the sand for about an hour, and didn't find much else except 3 brass fish hooks, and a few coins.

But this is a well hunted beach, and not many beachgoers due to the weather, so I was pretty happy to find the ring.

I was just south of you at the dog park yesterday. five hours and the result was a swiss army knife and about 60 cents.

I have been working the wet and dry more slowly and griddier. To no avail.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Well I'm sorry your finds are so low but... it sure makes me feel better to know that you guys that are really good at finding things are having a slow time out there too! So it's not just me!

Yep, its pretty slow on the beaches right now, but that could change with the next change of the weather, or the next midnight party on the beach.

Keep hunting, and you'll keep finding.

I'm going back out there tomorrow after taking a 3 day break . . .
