A tad bigger than a .22 casing, made of copper. A slight greenish color on the back with the letter W. Searched percussion caps and see lots similar but looking for an approximate year. Found at ghost town circa, late 1800's-early 1900's.

I’m only familiar with modern black power caps and mine did not resemble that.

A tad bigger than a .22 casing, made of copper. A slight greenish color on the back with the letter W. Searched percussion caps and see lots similar but looking for an approximate year. Found at ghost town circa, late 1800's-early 1900's.
It appears to be the botttom inch or so of a rimmed centerfire cartridge case, with the rest of the case eroded away. Do an image search for ".25-21 Stevens" or ".25-25 Stevens" and see if your speciman resembles the very bottom part.
