oil lamp part that goes under the glass

It appears to be the "air intake grill" which encircles an antique oil-lamp's wick-holder and the base of the glass globe/chimney. The multiple tabs on its edge kept the glass globe/chimney from slipping sideways. See the photo below.

Edit-note: AA battery and I were typing at the same time. Took me longer because I had to find and attach the photo, with explanation of it. :)
