Had a pretty good day yesterday! I think it topped number of buttons in one day for myself. 42 buttons in one day along with coins and other digs. It just about kick my old ass! Take a look... 11 - 1 (85).webp
Being an ole Virginia boy I just love those old Virginia buttons, this one is a beaut, along with the Navy buttons and early eagle Scovill.Waterbury. 11 - 1 (86).webp and many flats, some tombacs and 3 large cents 1828,1838 and no readable date on one. Indian Heads 1861 fatty and friends. 11 - 1 (87).webp.
They are all field found in an area of approximately 50 yards x 30 yards. Very much brick, pottery and old glass. Farmer getting ready to herbicide so about done. I had hit the spot on previous trips with my 11" coil but this time I decided to use the 6" and just concentrated on this area for the day. The equinox did a wonderful job picking through the trash which is very very heavy. Sensitivity down to 20 really did the job. Been a good winter but it is just about time to switch to fishing, Maybe even try a little water detecting. That is why I bought the equinox. Anybody out there having any luck with the nox in shallow saltwater, around old sites? Thanks for looking.

Man that is a awesome total on a one day for buttons. I probably won't dig that many ever. Some very nice saves and some great digging. Congrats! Bet that was fun.

A Banner day!!

:notworthy:

That is just amazing. Everyone who passed that spot must have plucked a button off and threw it to the ground, and got rid of their buckles too! Don't even think about fishing...you're not finished with that place!

Congrats on all of those military buttons. Would you happen to know what time era that Navy button is from in your second picture ?

That's a heck of a site! You should dig there every chance you get and save all you can. Congratulations on an awesome button day. I'm also a VA boy so that one is my favorite too.

Trezurehunter, Those buttons are pre-civil war 1840's - 1850's. Funny thing is the 3 ringer. But, I have found relics in that field covering a period of time from the early 1700's to indian heads 1889. The area was also the site of slave quarters on 1862 maps. The anchor and line backmark is Birmingham and the navy officer is scovill waterbury, same as the eagle. Thanks for asking.

Schuder, Congratulations to you on a Banner Relic hunt. That is some fantastic saved CW History. I'm from Georgia, but I like those Ole' Virginni buttons too. I like all CW relics, but especially Confetrit' pieces seeing that they are so much more of a rare find. Stay on this site. The fish will bite another day. Lol Continued Success.

That's awesome. I feel for you, I'm almost done too. I don't know if I'll fish this year or not. May just continue with my historic downsizing I've been doing that last few years.

Buttons, buttons...Everywhere a button!
That's a pretty incredible hunt!! Congrats!!

That is amazing! Just look at that EARLY Virginia. I would consider that a once in a lifetime hunt.

I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had a day of hunting like that! Congrats!

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

WOW! Incredible day, better than any day I have ever had.

Keep swingin.

Fantastic hunt. Any idea why so many military buttons were concentrated in that small area - was it an old military encampment. Again, great hunt, looking forward to seeing what you pull from there your next hunt. Good luck with your detecting adventures. Walt

That is A LOT of digging!!!! :notworthy:

Wow! I really like that Virginia button too. You had a heck of a day. Well done!

Killer relic hunt! :notworthy:

That’s an awful lot of buttons found in the same area. Some in excellent condition. Makes me wonder why and how they got there. Congrats
