Petersburg KY visit

My family and I will be visiting the area in about 2 weeks. Does anyone know of any problems in this area with metal detecting. My son and I are interested in finding a few pennies or so----this is a vacation for us and we do not really need a hot spot--just a park/beach or two to have some down time.
