Petrified wood or bone?

I dug this today while metal detecting. Its very heavy. At first i thought it was just a cow bone or something until i picked it up and felt it. I know nothing about fossils.

Looks like petrified wood.

That hole looks like were a nail , or bolt went through it , old fencing ?
