Petrified Wood (agate, opal, jasper, etc) can be really hard to knap and often produces rough points, but quality materials can be beautiful. Here's one i just found on the beach. While I found it here in Western Washington, it was brought here from either the East side of the Cascade Mountains, or from Oregon. 1 3/4" x 1 1/8". Both sides.

That's a beauty! Love the color.

Beautiful! Jasper

Spectacular form on such a beauty.
Lithics on that very nice.
Would be a center piece in some collections.
BTW: Nice size as well.

That is nice man

Great find! Lots of beautiful, knappable stone on your side of the country!

Great beach find, still looks very sharp

That is Awesomely beautiful, Congrats!

Awesome find! Very pleased to see you find such a great piece. Congrats.

What a beauty of a point. Congrats on saving it.

Wonder what color it would of been before the stain? I see some red and black in it.

Rock, it's not stained. That's the (multi) color of the Petrified Wood.

"What a beauty of a point. "Congrats on saving it"

I found it in on private property also used by local Native Americans to harvest shellfish. I have found several snapped points from being run over by their ATV's they use to/from/on the beach. I really am saving them from destruction !

Yes, unusually sharp for the beach! I found it after a real high tide, just below the high tide line. Being that high on the beach, it avoided most the usual tumbling wear.

That's a beauty, for sure, nice find!

Saltwater doesn't stain them? Ive never found one in that type of setting. I know the creek here stains them. Its Gem quality for sure.

Yup, the Dalles was a major trade center. I have personally found a Klickitat dagger here on Klamath Lake. By the way, very nice point!!:headbang:
