If you visit the Quartzsite area, you must go to the petroglyph site in Tyson's Wash. Go south on the Old Yuma Rd until you get to Rd 0139. Turn right and follow it to the wash. Unless you have a 4x4, park here before going out on the loose sand and pebbles. The glyphs are right around the rock outcrop right there.

There are more but some have been vandalized.
Directly across the wash, on the rocks there are at least five grinding holes.

And..... there is also a "Geocache" close to the holes! It would appear that it has been there since 2015.

PeteyGirl and I have been here in Quartzsite since the 24th of January and will go look for gold at Stanton in March. TTC

I saw on TV last weekend that not all pockmarks in rock may not have been done by the hand of man. Notice how this little fella places a coconut in one of those pockmarks on his anvil stone. This is Nat-geo, the show I watched was an episode of Planet Earth, narrated by David Attenborough.

Cool pics Terry! Thanks for sharing. Hope you guys find some Gold!

Nice Buddy! Thank's for sharing!!:icon_thumright::headbang:

What would they grind in the grinding holes? They look like post holes.

Great photos Terry! Thanks for loading them up.

Probably grinding down posts to make all the legs on their computer tables the same length! No, they would be grinding seeds and nuts. Maybe even drying out meat and then pounding it to a flour to make "pemmican", or whatever they called dry meat back then. TTC

Been there a few times!
