I dug this up today. Its got some type of design on it, looks almost military to me. Any help is appreciated.

I took this button to the national button convention in Manchester . 3 of the dealers saw the same thing. They are saying pre-revolutionary.2 of them also put it under a loop and says it's a French button, based on the fleur de lis and curled French flags . The only thing I'm thinking now is French- Indian war but the only buttons I ever see are plain but I'll keep looking

If there's anything I've learned in this stuff it's not to trust the opinion or someone who does not know!

Cool button, seen it a while back but have nothing to add other than the British used the fleur de lys a lot too, and to me if it is elephants something like British East India makes way more sense than mid. 18th century French, but that is just me. I really don't know but it is interesting.... and yes, I also fall into the category I warned you about in my first line.

Hi; I can tell you that the Elephants represent Good Luck ok. It is remotely possible that this button is somehow connected to the East India Trading Company ok. PEACE:RONB
