Joey Grether and John Sagasta, longtime friends and colleagues at independent Phoenix coffee shop Conspire, will begin what Grether called a "social experiment" in alternative currency this weekend.
The currency, called Phx Bux, will consist of 2,000 pewter coins handmade by local jewelers Chadwick and Rueling. The experiment will consist of where, when, and for how long Phoenix residents use them.
