Hi there,

Need some help from membership- Found this yesterday in a forest preserve in Illinois that was formerly farmland. I'm guessing it is some sort of axe head or a plow? All feedback welcome. It's fairly heavy. Thank you in advance.

I do not believe it to be a mattock head.
Possibly a spike from a crude farm implement.

The more I look at it, the back end appears to be somewhat rounded. That wouldn't make sense for a wedge or other implement meant to be struck. At 10" long, it seems small for a pickaxe or mattock. So I'm going to side with "part of a farm implement" as well.
