I have owned this machine for more than 10 years now and had to take the "box" apart to clean and repair a loose connection that gave me fits when trying to ground balance at times. This machine has been put through heck as you can see by the wear and tear, dings and pings. Notice how big the hole has got on the rod that the arm cuff screws through. I think Im on my third arm cuff. :D There is a close up picture of the connector that the coil cable screws into. There is a ground wire that attaches there that I have put an over sized screw in to make sure I do not have a ground fault in the future. I made that repair a few years ago. Anyway I thought I would take some pictures for those who own a XLT and wondered what hey look like inside.

BTW it all worked when I got it back together  :D :D ;D ;D

ROFLM MF AO!!!!!

Yeah, like a FISHER!

;D

That's interesting! I've had my XLT since 1999. I've never taken it apart. When ever I've had it serviced I've taken it straight to the factory in Sweet Home Oregon ~ it's less than an hour drive from my place. They've got some great customer service ~ they'll take care of you!

:) I wish my detector showed so much wear from being so well used. Well done!

Beware 1270 owners! That machine needs duct tape on it from the factory. A great machine but a poor battery door design. You get a little female DNA on it and they will fall apart. ;D

Thank you very much! :) Im really surprised that it still works considering the rough life it has had. Its like the Jeep of detectors! It still works like the day I got it. I have had to make a few very minor repairs but other than that it has kept on keeping on. The pinpoint switch failed on me when it was a few years old on a relic hunting trip to VA! What a drag. >:( I had a Tesoro for a back up and found some great stuff that year. Thanks for the comment.

kindafoundabuckle your relationship with your detector sounds like my relationship with my car. People (including my wife) have told me to just get another car but as long as I can start it up and it gets me to work everyday, I see no need to replace it. Keep it alive as long as your can!

My detector only has dust on it from lack of use. I feel kind of guilty, but my dad has 3 and I always got hunting with him so I just use his. I really should neglect it like that.

I will never let go of my XLT EVER!!!

Thank you! I wish I had a dime for every minute I have swung that machine!
