"Picturial Scrapbook of The Garden Gully Quartz Gold Reef" [silver]
The new site i have decided for the winter covers about 2 square miles and consists of a saddle quartz gold reef named in 1853.The Garden Gully Reef was considered the fifth richest gold reef in the world between 1853 till 1948.With more than 300 mines, some as deep as 4000 feet. The Area includes numerous small settlements, hotels, foundries and other stuctures. The true amount of gold mined here cannot be truly defined. By the info i gained access to some ware about 5 million oz's.Resent earth works and removal of rubbish has given me a golden chance to have some real fun.
.This site may produce a little gold but is not an alluvial gold feild , most famous for deep hard rock mining. That means not to many nuggets.I may find some small quartz tailing pieces, if lucky.relics on the other hand will be plentifull
.Today there was a little rain so i only managed a couple of hours. I found one silver shilling 1910 and few shards.Heres the few pics of the area and i will be here for the rest of autumn and all winter. Thanks for looking
