Piece of wooden ship???

Last week I found this rolling around in the surf. I scooped it up and ran my metal detector over it and it beeped. There was I believe portions of a iron spike in the wood which has fallen off since. I believe this must be a part of a wood ship, but I don't know how old it is. I found it in the Jupiter Beach area.

Certainly looks old, but, it could easily be part of a pier too...keep hitting the area!
