Found this yesterday at a 1800's homesite. Was thinking maybe off of a gun maybe side plate from a rifle or maybe part of a handle from a pistol.Has serial numbers on it or some type of numbers in two differrent places one place looks to be 895OR995,then has a 3 by it self.Seems to have been alot of shooting going on around this place.Added some pictures of bullets I have found here, and some type of rimfire shell casings maybe in the 30cal. range.Right many types of old I take to be musket ammo.Just wondering what you all thought might need to try looking for the rest of it if you think its off a gun.Pretty thick woods though and brairs vines.Looks like I've been fighting with a wild cat!!

Could be a grip panel to a derringer or small vest pocket pistol of some type? Monty

Yes timekiller I know exactly what you mean about looking like you've been in a fight with a cat! The saw grass around here is brutal. And from here on out, it just gets worse. Cant help with the possible gun part but, good finds none the less!

I think you are right, it is a sideplate from a single shot pistol of some kind...It could either be a percussion or cartridge pistol. I am thinking I have seen this somewhere, but I can't remember where.. I've looked all over and can't find the right curves on the sideplates I have looked at..
I'm still looking..lol..
