Gave my 10 year old daughter a lesson on treasure hunting at the water park yesterday....wouldn't you know it, she was the only one to find gold and possibly a real pearl. I don't know much about pearls? I know the old test of rubbing it across your teeth to see if it feels gritty....which I did (after I cleaned it) It feels gritty...:dontknow: The stones don't look real under the loop....but none the less, it put a big grin on her face. I will get her a chain for it. Its small, but the look on her face when I told her she found gold was priceless. (it did acid test for 10K)

In total we managed 15 earrings (all junk)...1 broken 925 bracelet and 1 10K pendant. Better than a lot of days of hunting on the beach. :skullflag:

The bracelet looked like junk at first, but I couldn't get past the weight of it. My eyes aren't that great so I looked at it a little closer when I got home.....its marked 925. I acid tested it....its real silver....23 grams.

Oh, what the heck do I know.....just put the diamond tester on the stones, they are real. 7 small diamonds. Now she thinks she's Davy Jones.

(Which would lead me to believe the pearl is real)

Does great detecting run in the family?

It is fun to see that the small ones enjoy our sport.

Tell your daughter, that's just the beginning! There's lots more for her to find!
I'm so happy for you and her! Great finds! Your bracelet looks really nice for 925.
Does it also have stones/diamonds? Possibly gold x accents? Nice!

Nothing better than hearing a story like that, congrats to both of you..... have you picked out her own new detector yet?

Great story ! & Treasure !

ok, time to give her the detector and you just watch TV

Were you using detectors or just eyeballing finds in the water?

nice finds congrats HH

I was standing next to the lazy river watching all the adults slamming into each other and realized how much stuff was probably being dropped. I went in with a pair of goggles to find out where the items would most likely be gathering. There were grates on the bottom about every 25 to 30 yards. I started examining the front of the grates.....they were more or less acting like a sluice box. There were several items of jewelry in each grate....but my fingers were to big to pull them out. I quickly retrieved my daughter and nephew.

My wife walked over a couple times and was shaking her head.....but the kids were having a blast. Pulled enough clad out to buy the kids ice cream also.
