Pin, button or something else?

Dug this up today and curious about it. Doesn't really look like a button shank in back but seems to small to be a pin back. The front middle is some kind of plastic or celluloid. It is maroon and yellow but tipped right in the sun can look all yellow. Couldn't get a good pic of that effect. No writing that I can find. Thanks for your input!

My guess would be a "bolo tie" ... OR a button... and the stone is "tigers eye".
