Very nice knife. Likely that's Burlington chert, probably my favorite material.
 

More than likely heat treated Burlington.

at the first glance i thought it was a glued together broke
it sure is pretty with that line encircling it
 

Larson, I was thinking internal natural break that the deep color settled into over the years. The surface is smooth over the color line no evidence of it breaking on surface.

I have come back probably 5 times in hopes you have taken a pic of it out in natural light so the colors will show. Hint Hint
