Address of the BSA Reservation is:
57 Pipsico Road
Spring Grove, Virginia
Pipsico is located between Eastover and Chanco....watch for those signs also.
If you click on my website link under my profile...you will see a folder from April 2007 when Stacey and I went up there for the first time to look around..I took pics of how to get there....I hope that helps you!!!
We will be on the road by 9 am....can't make it up there tonight liked I hoped...

...not sure as of yet if Ron has tomorrow off...I hope he does, as I don't want us to have to bring two cars

....cause I WILL leave in the morning WITH or WITHOUT him!
So excited to see ya'll tomorrow....WHOOO HOOO.
As for our location if arriving Saturday....when you pull into Pipsico....you will go to the right of the museum (the rangers home is on the left and the drive goes around the museum)....stay to the right of the museum and follow the road a tad bit...and then you will turn right (look for the sign: CAMP KIWANIS)....follow that road down...
Now, if you see some cars parked along the way...that would be us on the left...that is the area we are concentrating on Saturday. If we are not there, continue down the road and you will come to a clearing and on the right will be the shelter and our tents....park on the left (some cars should still be there).
Look forward to seeing ya'll .....
Annmarie
PS: I believe Camp Lions will be OFF LIMITS to us this time...they have Boy Scouts there this weekend. We found out at our last BS Meeting. However, I don't know what time they arrive or leave. Let's see what Ranger Dan says. Besides, I think we have enough to do to keep us busy at Camp Kiwanis!!!!
Be watchful too..as I believe those Copperheads MAY be out and about!!!
We will have lots of bungee cords...to secure our coolers...we had no problems last time at Camp Kiwanis with the Racoon with the PH.d in Cooler Retrevial!!!

...but we will secure our coolers and keep them high on the tables that are stacked at the shelter (we can use those tables too, but we won't need them all).
For those who have not been to Pipsico...you will most likely see some Eagles flying over head or nesting overhead (DO NOT DISTURB)...as well as some deer and maybe a red fox or two. We were lucky both in May 2007 and November 2007 as far as snakes go...no one reported seeing any cooperheads...however, I did have (when Rowdy and I were in Campsite 3 at Camp Lions back in May 2007)....a HUGE, FAT, really LONG Black Snake cross my path!!!

...I was FROZEN in time....and I let him continue on his journey!!! He went one way and I went the other...
The weather for the camp changed since I looked at it a couple of days ago....it was suppose to rain on Saturday afternoon and night...but looks like the rain will come in on Friday...which I think is better, since that is our day of arrival and setup and game plan...so I don't forsee that being much of a problem for us on Friday...however....if a thunderstorm comes about with lightening...Ranger Dan has given us permission to set up our tents UNDER the shelter roof!!!! Just incase..k?
As of right now..forecast calls for:
Friday: Partly sunny in the morning...then mostly cloudy with a chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent. Looks like chance of light rain is to start around 2pm and end around 5am on Sat morning. (Way I look at it...it will keep the ground SOFT for us

).
Friday night: Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Cooler with lows in the mid 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
Saturday: Partly sunny. Much cooler with highs in the lower 50s. North winds around 10 mph.
Saturday night and Sunday: Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 30s. Highs in the mid 50s. It will be VERY COLD Sunday morning when we wake up...in the high 20's to high 30's...brrrrrrrrrrr!!! Dress warm!
Sunday night: Partly cloudy in the evening...then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows around 40.
Monday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the upper 60s. Lows around 50.
Think with this weather...the copperheads will stay undercover?
Here's the weather link I use....it is set on Friday, then you can click on Sat, and Sun if you wish for the forecast.
