You could not have scripted this AM hunt. Just hunted 1 hour. Started out finding some clad, a key safe token, hot wheels car, two modern bullets and an old thimble. Then I thought to scoot over by 30 feet to where older items had been dug on my prior three visits. First deep signal wasn't obvious to the pinpointer when I turned the plug; the target was in the sidewall. I scraped away a little soil and saw what looked like a gold rim that proved not to be a gold-toned bottle cap but an actual 14K engagement ring! One more deep signal brought forth a 1919 wheat. That was it; had to bug out after the wheat dig. Going to bank this site for the future. Know where at least one of the "hot spots" is located and will hit it when I can get back here.

nice, but i like the 1919 wheat the best out of the bunch. lol. seriously. oldest wheat i dug is 1936 so far. nice job on the ring though. always good when we dont scratch it with the digger.

Beautiful ring. I would have been too excited to quit. Congrats!

i am same way. these finds usually happen when you are some tight time limit. happens all the time. sometimes i dig before work in the morning.

Thanks Scott! ....and thank you, too, for the group invite. Had a Club hunt on Saturday and had a first there with the two cow tags I dug. They sounded up there between 80 and 90; very happy with them.

you are welcome. feel free to post some pics on the page of your favorite finds. we are amassing quite a collection. those 80-90 signals on the at pro, sometimes you dont know what is going to come out of the hole!

Thx KK1611! That's my first 14K engagement ring; other gold rings I've found have been old signets.

Nice ring. I've only dug 2 ever, a 10k man's white gold band and a 14k white gold man's with 9 diamonds. Is that about a 1/4 carat stone?

Tx Smokey. Will let you know. I'm taking it to a jeweler to have the stone verified; if it's a diamond, I'll have the ring re-sized.

nice finds,

a bit confused on Pirates gold title...

I can see why. I used the title as a 'hook' but it does fit with my prior three posts that all had to do with the same search site. Read them and it will make more sense.

Congrats on the gold ring, that's a nice surprise! Most of the best things I have ever found have been on a short hunt. It's strange-I plan a long detecting day and find nothing, but then I sneak out for an hour or two after work and the good finds happen.

Congrats on a fine hunt, and I hope the diamond is the real deal.

Looks like you had a really nice short hunt. Congrats on the ring and other finds. Hope the diamond checks out. Is the thimble marked?

Beautiful gold! Congrats!! I get soooo excited when I pop gold outta the dirt...nothing like it! Thanks for sharing.

Nice productive short hunt, congratulations!

Wow...nice ice and gold! -Lisa & John

Thanks J.Cache. Let's see how it goes. Worked 12.5h today. Off tomorrow and plan an all morning hunt in the woods.

Thanks Professor! Back to the woods tomorrow. GL & HH!
