Yesterday while I was in the water a fellow waved me into shore. He told me he had lost his wedding ring the day before. When I got the details I was not real confident that I would find it but I told him I'd give it a shot. He said that they had changed hotel rooms and he had just thrown his ring into their beach tote bag. When they got back to their new room he realized the ring was not in the bag. I'm thinking it could be anywhere.

When I get to where he had been sitting, his wife was there and had been raking up an area about 10X10 feet.

Within 30 seconds I had a good signal and was pretty confident it was his ring. I had been using my "diamond head" scoop and had to go into the surf to sluice out the sand and at the bottom of the scoop I saw his ring.

As I returned to them and pulled the ring out of the scoop his wife says "You just saved his life." He had lost another wedding ring sometime during their 13 year marriage and she was not happy about him losing a second. I think she was serious.

Ran into the couple today and my colleague has a camera phone and took the pic for me.

Thanks for looking and good luck out there!

Well done! I returned a ring lost for 45 years..the look on their face is classic.

I can't imaging returning a ring lost 45 years prior. The oldest lost ring I've returned was only lost for 4 months. But you're right. The folks are so appreciative and unbelieving that they have their ring back.

You are amazing with all the returns. Hope our paths cross again.

Fantastic! You saved his life.
