It's been a while since platinum was worth more than gold. I guess that means we can all accept the fact that gold has been overrated/overpriced for some time now??? How do you all feel about gold vs. platinum (vs. silver for that matter) as an investment vehicle? I for one think that gold is overvalued, and feel that silver still has the most potential of the three. Maybe it's just a hunch.

Oh, and so they don't move this post... I found 2 64d's in my first of 6 half dollar boxes for the week. :) Makes 13 90s and 13 40s so far on the new year (gotta love that ratio!)

... I know a lot of you have traded up from silver coin roll hunting finds to gold. Anyone trade up to platinum bullion? Anyone make the bold move of selling gold to buy junk silver?

3 Cheers for silver and platinum!... gold sucks. LOL

Silver is the everyday person's gold. I mean really, anyone can afford a dime of junk silver at the moment. But who can or would want to buy a 1/10th ounce of gold for 240 bucks? Not me. I rather take that 240 and buy 8-10 ounces of silver buillion.

Hugs,

Wow GL, $240 for a tenth-oz gold? There is no reason why you should not be able to get it for at least $50 less, that's quite a premium there and someone's raking you.
I hold early US gold pieces because they are just so beautiful, and silver gets just plain boring at times (did I say that?).

Wondering what will happen to the price of gold once Germany goes to the NY Fed to get physical?

I didn't buy any gold but my LCS gave me that price but they said the bigger piece of gold I buy the lower the premium would be. Yeah right. I rather have silver unless I come into some serious money. I got 200 bucks to play around with right now. I had to take out a loan to pay some of my mom's medical bills and the property taxes. She'll pay me back when we sell her second peice of property. Right now I am wondering if I want to buy some junk silver or go with bullion. Our LCS makes me pay 2.50 over spot for buillion but not junk silver. I always wondered why but :;shrugs:: eh. I like platinum but in reality how many normal people would appreciate the rarity of it? Not like silver or gold.

Platinum used to be not considered valuable. In fact, many counterfeit silver coins used to be made out of platinum. Gold and silver always had value, platinum not until the last couple hundred of years. Another interesting tidbit: Aluminum used to be worth more than gold, until the late 1800s, when it could be extracted well. That is why the very top part of the Washington Monument has a tiny aluminum triangle on it.
