Recently at an auction I picked up this pocket watch. It is 14k and made in the late 1920's. It is an Illinois Autocrate with the chain and matching mother of pearl pen knife. I paid $66.00, righteous buy right? When I got home I opened the back plate and learned that the watch was engraved. "Charles E. Rogers 1927". Hm-mm, interesting...maybe a retirement gift? So I decide to google the name and the date and only one true result comes up. A wiki on an actor in the early years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Rogers_(actor) Get this, he won his first Oscar in...you guessed it, 1927. Could the watch be a gift commemorating his win at the Oscars? How can I authenticate the watch? How could it have made its way to Scotia NY? Please if you have any information that can help me, SPEAK UP!!
