I need some help with the I.D. of this item. It was found in an old part of my town on the river bank where an old bottle dump is. I found a shotgun shell made from 1867 to 1911 in the same exact spot. I'm thinking this is a reigns guide, but I'm just not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

[olroy70]

afraid it isnt that old. is a clip used for locking things on tractors

[SkaBa]

It does look like a spring clip.

I'm not sure, but it looks like a wrought iron hitching post ring/spike to me. The top of the spike portion certainly appears to have been hammered on.

I believe nhbenz may be correct with his guess of a iron hitching post ring/spike.

Wondering if I should mark this one solved. Anyone want to give an opinion here?

[SkaBa]

Is the ring a solid circle or does it have break where it goes through the pin?

[jaypop06]

It's a solid ring. No break whatsoever.

[SkaBa]

Solved - hitching post ring/spike.
