My brother found this yesterday. Appears to be copper with a gold tinge coming through. I'm thinking possibly a smooth Largy. Any thoughts ?

Slightly larger than a quarter and slightly thicker.

Even when worn down completely blank, a coin tends to lose little or none of its diameter. Borrow a Digital Caliper, and give us the object's exact measurement in hundredths-of-an-inch and in tenths-of-a-millimeter... and we'll see if it matches up with any of the known diameters of historical copper coins.

Why do you think this item is worn Spanish copper ?? From the photo it looks like simple piece of flattened copper

Just a guess! Comparison of OP pics

Admittedly this holed coin which was dug from downtown Pueblo, Colorado is in pretty bad shape. I can never prove without extensive laboratory forensics, what it truly used to be. Since Pueblo has an old Spanish history, I am assuming it was from that time. It looks to me to be about the same size as the original post photo. The soil here is very hard on copper, brass etc. It also appears this coin may have been in a fire as it has some bubbling. Then again it could have been a tag from a gas meter...

If it was an old copper it would have a green patina. If it's that bright, I'm thinking its a copper slug.

After going over it for over an hour with a toothbrush and water I then went to water and baking soda. After about 45 minutes with a magnifying glass and unable to find any markings I soaked it in CLR over night figuring at that point I had nothing to lose. It does seem to have ridges around the edges like a quarter which if that's true (not 100% sure) that would eliminate Spanish coin. I will measure it at some point and post. I found it at about 6 inches deep on a property that's dated to the late 1800's. It could very well be a slug but it's also interesting. Thanks for everyone's help. I'm new to detecting and finds like this even if a slug keeps me hitting the field. I can't wait to hit some dated properties with my brother.

Can I make a suggestion .Don't clean any coins or possible coins before having guys on here give an opinion on what it is, you could scrub a real valuable coin into being not so valuable.I mean each to his own, but it would make you sick if you found something old and valuable and you took all the patina off by cleaning it, making it practically worthless, we all have probably done it. I know I cleaned a Roman coin and to this day I kick myself for doing that.
